Made and Apni were amazing hosts! The dinner was beautiful; I had the crispy chicken, and my partner had the crispy duck. It was our first time trying duck, and it was delicious. The restaurant was set at the outset with ponds of fish surrounding us; the setting was very romantic. We headed to three different spots to find fireflies; initially, we only saw a couple, and my partner wasn’t getting into it. When we hit the second spot, there were more, and we got some captured in a bug catcher. But the third spot was breathtaking….There were tons of them everywhere! They lit the trees like Christmas lights, and my partner was out there with Made, hunting them down and bringing them back to Apni and me to put in the bug catcher. Some of them even started mating in there! It was an amazing site; my partner and I enjoyed it more than we thought.

Bu Apni and her staff are fun and good people. We enjoyed hearing some explanations of fireflies from them. We only saw some fireflies because we came in late October (hint: she told us that around August is the best time!). Also, we enjoyed the night view of Ubud’s rice field and the starry sky while listening to frogs singing! haha. It was an exciting experience for me and my girlfriend. Also, the food in the restaurant was very delicious!

The three of us enjoyed the tour. We did not experience this in Singapore, so we find it as though we were back in the 60s during the Kampong days. To see small blinking natural lights (lights given out by fireflies and the stars above) under pitch-black and muddy surroundings is not an everyday thing anymore – at least to the city kids. The sound of the insects in a dark environment made music to our ears. The experience of catching fireflies, plus the bonus of meeting ducks in the paddy fields, is all worthwhile. All these are nature meet nature. Haha! Finally, I thank you for being kind and patient with us! Thank you for accommodating our last-minute request regarding the meet-up location! It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us. I wish you well in health and business.

I enjoyed catching the few fireflies we could find. I can’t believe how small they are. Unreal!
Made and Apni were great hosts and took us to a fabulous restaurant called Sawah Indah. Recommended! Take a fleece for the end of the night, though 🙂

Amazing experience! We started the evening with dinner at a local restaurant overlooking rice paddies: delicious food and a breathtaking view of the sunset. We visited 3 different sites to search for fireflies when it got dark. We were not disappointed! Beautiful experience. Our guides were so warm, friendly and informative. This tour is highly recommended :)!

The Tour was amazing, and the hosts were awesome—great English and passionate about their work. Seeing the first firefly was breathtaking. We also learnt about culture and farming practices along the way.
The food was great at the restaurant before. Also, the hosts are fabulous with children.

We really enjoy this tour. The fireflies were amazing to see. My 3-year-old son enjoyed the experience, too, and was excited to see rice farmers in the fields! Both our guides were extremely knowledgeable about the area and the fireflies. It is a tour worth doing.
