For the Balinese, Pura Pucak Penulisan is a sacred place to conduct cleansing and blessing rituals. The people will bring a pejati, a ‘notification’ offering. A pejati consists of peras, santun, ajuman, ketipat, and segehan. The offerings are equipped with incense and young yellow coconut (bungkak nyuh gading).
The Pejati offering will be offered to God. Jro Bayan, the head priest in the mountainous Balinese people, will guide it. After the first prayer, the yellow coconut is ready to use for cleansing outside the temple. The water from yellow coconut is sprinkled on some parts of the body, i.e., head and face, and also to drink it. For Balinese, the yellow coconut is the symbol of the God of Siwa and Wisnu. It is believed to annihilate the Sadripu (lust, greed, anger, disrespect, pride, and envy).
The second step is back to the central area of the temple. It continues with praying. For a spiritual experience, some tourists do a cleansing ritual. These activities are popular in the name of blessing rituals at the Megalithic site.
